ROSA was formed from a small group of enthusiasts in 2010. The goal was to preserve and further the Bulgarian culture and traditions in the United States. During the first two years, only authentic Bulgarian folk dances were taught. Since January 2013, with the help of the new choreographer Vesselin Vassilev, the group expanded its work to choreographed dances from different Bulgarian folklore regions and started performing at different events and occasions. The group conducts teaching sessions for traditional Bulgarian folk dances and aims to educate people of all ages and backgrounds about the richness of Bulgarian folklore. Furthermore, the purpose of the group is not only to educate, but to create a unique social and cultural environment and unite people sharing the common love for traditional Bulgarian culture.
